The experience
You take off from Taucho at 800 metres in an engineless tandem with a pilot who has been flying here for over 25 years. The flight is around 20 minutes and the whole experience about two hours including pick-up, transfer and return. You need to know nothing: the pilot handles the gear, walks you through the four steps of take-off, and all you do is run a few metres with him. What is worth understanding before booking is that this flies without an engine and so depends on the weather window: the day and time are confirmed based on wind, cloud and temperature, and sometimes it moves. That is why we always place it early in your trip, never the day before your flight home: that way, if it has to be rescheduled, there is room.

Frequently asked questions
Is it scary? What if I change my mind at take-off?
Less than it seems: there is no jump and no void, you take a few steps downhill and the wing lifts you before you realise. In the air you sit, and the 20 minutes are calm gliding, not aerobatics. If at take-off you are not sure, you tell the pilot and you do not fly; nobody will push you.
How much does it cost, and is the video worth it?
€110 for the flight, same fare for adults and children, and €150 with the video report: video and photos of the flight copied to your phone. It is worth it if it is your first flight or a gift: you cannot film yourself while taking off, and the face of those first seconds does not happen twice. If you have flown before, the flight alone is fine.
When do we not recommend it?
If you weigh under 25 kg or over 100, if you are pregnant or have reduced mobility, because the provider will not take you. And if it is your last day on the island: it is a motorless flight, the wind rules, and a flight moved to the next day is a flight you do not do. Book it for the start of your trip.
Can children or older people fly?
Yes to both, with one condition each. Children: there is no minimum age, weight is what counts, from 25 kg, and they fly at the same fare. Older people: the maximum age is a guideline, around 75, and depends on fitness; if in doubt, tell us the case and we check with the provider before booking.
What time is best to fly?
Monday to Saturday, with slots at 10, 12, 14 and 16 h, plus 18 h from April to October. The right time is decided by the pilot according to the day’s wind and clouds, so book a slot and expect it to move. For the photo, the last ones of the day; for the gentlest air, the first.
Do you pick me up, and where do we take off?
Free pickup in Los Cristianos, Playa de las Américas, Costa Adeje, Playa Paraíso and Callao Salvaje. With a car or outside that area, the meeting point is the Adeje Shopping car park or the one at La Enramada beach. Take-off is at Taucho, at 800 metres, and the whole thing — pickup, drive up, briefing, flight and return — takes about 2 hours.
What do I wear?
Closed shoes that support the ankle, long trousers and a warm layer: at Taucho and in the air it is cool even when you are in a t-shirt down below. Sunglasses with a strap or in your pocket until you are seated. Nothing loose: what falls at take-off does not come back.
Which language does the pilot speak?
The provider works in Spanish, English, German, French, Italian and Dutch, which is more than usual on the island. Tell us yours when booking and we confirm it for your slot.
How far ahead do I book, and what about the wind?
It can be confirmed with 4 hours’ notice, but book one or two days ahead to choose your slot and have some margin. If the wind gives no safe window, the pilot changes the time or moves the flight to another day of your stay; for any other reason, free cancellation up to 48 hours before.
