Turtle kayak and snorkel
Two hours in total, setting off from the beach in front of the Diving & Kayaking Atlantis centre in Los Cristianos. After a short briefing you paddle towards the Palm Mar cliffs, and on the way it is common to run into the dolphins that live near the fish farms. At the rocks you stop for half an hour of snorkelling among Canary turtles and fish. No technical difficulty, no early start, and it ends before lunch, so it fits into a day that is already booked in the afternoon. Snorkel gear, life jacket and booties are included; the wetsuit is extra. It works well with kids because they ride in your kayak.
Snorkelling (lava reef or by boat)
If the kayak does not appeal, the shore snorkelling happens right in front of the centre in Los Cristianos: they give you the gear, explain how to move with fins and mask, and you head out for fifty minutes with a guide pointing out fish, starfish and lava formations. It is the cheapest and shortest option, good for trying it without committing your whole morning. The boat version leaves from Ola Diving in Puerto Colón or Dive Spot in Las Galletas, with fifty minutes of snorkelling inside a two-hour trip, and for €6 more per person you go looking for turtles instead of staying on the lava reef. If you came for the turtles, pay the €6.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need to know how to swim?
You do not need to be a strong swimmer: you wear a life jacket with the guide beside you, and gear is included in both options. Being comfortable with your face in the water helps for the snorkelling, but if you are not, you can stay watching from the kayak.
Will we definitely see turtles?
It's one of the most reliable sightings on the island, because the Palm Mar turtles live there — they're not passing through. They're still wild animals, though, and nobody should promise you anything. On the kayak you go straight to their patch at no extra cost: that's exactly where the snorkelling stop is.
Kayak or snorkelling — which one?
The kayak is the full plan: you paddle from Los Cristianos to the Palm Mar cliffs and stop for 30 minutes to snorkel where the turtles are. Snorkelling on its own is 50 minutes, for people who'd rather not paddle or are short on time. If you're only doing one water activity on the trip, make it the kayak.
When would we tell you to skip it?
If what you want is a proper paddle. It's 2 easy hours with stops and a guide setting the group's pace: it's an outing to see turtles, not a workout. And children under 6 can't go in the kayak.
And the 6 € supplement — who does it apply to?
Only to people booking the boat snorkelling trip, not the kayak. On that option, 6 € more takes you to the turtle area instead of the lava reef. If you're doing the kayak it doesn't concern you — you already stop where they are.
Is there a guide in my language?
It's one of the few centres on the island covering six languages: Spanish, English, German, French, Polish and Russian. Not every guide works every day, so tell us which one you need before we fix the time and we'll confirm it.
How much of the day does it take?
About three hours door to door: 2 hours on the water plus an hour for the briefing, kitting up and changing back. The 10:00 departure leaves you free for lunch, and that's the one we usually suggest in summer, before the sun gets hard.
What if the sea isn't cooperating that day?
We move the date or switch you to shore snorkelling, which works in conditions the kayak can't. Cancellation is free up to 48 hours before, and if the centre calls it off for safety you lose nothing.
