The experience
It's the most immediate thing in the catalogue: no learning curve, you get on and open the throttle. So the only thing to get right is how long. An hour takes you out of the harbour, into open water and back; that's the 85 € option and it's what we'd suggest for a first time. Two hours make sense if there are two of you on the jet ski and you want to stop for a swim — otherwise the first half hour has already given you almost everything it has to give.

Frequently asked questions
One hour or two?
One hour for almost everyone: enough to leave the harbour, get into open sea, see the coast from the water and come back wanting more. Two hours are for those who have tried it and know they like it; for those who have not, it drags and the hands feel it. If in doubt, one.
How much does it cost and is it per person?
It is per jet ski: €85 an hour riding solo and €95 with two on the same one; €140 and €150 for two hours. Sharing a jet ski as a pair works out at almost half the price per person, but only one drives at a time. Included are the jet ski, life jacket, briefing, guide and insurance; not included: photos, transfer and meals.
Do I need a licence?
Not for the guided outing: you go in a group behind a guide, and that is what allows you to drive without a qualification. There is, however, a minimum driving age set by the provider, and minors ride as passengers. We confirm it before you book, depending on who is going.
When do we not recommend it?
If you get seasick on boats: on a jet ski the motion is sharper and there is nowhere to sit and watch the horizon. With back or neck problems, neither: the jumps over the waves are paid for the next day. And if what you want is to see dolphins or whales, the whale-watching boat does it better and cheaper.
Do I need experience?
No. There is a briefing on basic handling and the rules, and the guide sets the group’s pace; in ten minutes you have the hang of it. It is one of the easiest motor activities to start: no licence, no gears and the sea as a cushion.
Where do we leave from and at what time?
From a harbour in the south of Tenerife that we confirm when you book, with the exact time; there are departures throughout the day depending on the sea and availability. In the morning the sea is usually calmer, which is what suits a first time. The transfer is not included: without a car, tell us and we look at pickup.
What do I bring and what do I leave at the hotel?
Swimwear on, a towel, water-resistant sunscreen and something dry for afterwards; the provider supplies the life jacket. Leave at the hotel your watch, sunglasses without a strap and your phone without a waterproof case: the sea keeps everything.
Which language is the briefing in, and what about rough seas?
Spanish, English or French; tell us yours when booking. If the provider decides the sea does not allow a safe outing, the time or date is changed, or something equivalent is offered; for any other reason, free cancellation up to 48 hours before. Do not put it on the last day of your trip.
