I've never done it: which lesson do I book?
Start with the 2 h group lesson (€89). That gets you standing on the board, lifting the sail and turning, and tells you whether you fancy more. If you're hooked, the 6 h package in three sessions (€239) has you sailing out and back in light wind, and the 10 h in five (€349) starts bringing in the harness. A private lesson (€139 for 2 h, €399 for 6 h, €599 for 10 h) makes sense if you're alone, if you have one specific day and no other, or if your 12-year-old learns better without others watching. If you already sail and want to plane, get your feet in the footstraps or try waves, improver lessons cost €65 an hour with your gear and €95 with the centre's premium kit.
Starter or Premium? Choose by your level, not the price
If you're not planing yet, Starter is for you and paying for Premium is throwing money away: Gecko boards from 120 to 156 litres, sails up to 5.7 m with aluminium booms, stable, forgiving gear. It costs €95 a day, €225 for three days, €375 a week and €615 for two weeks. Premium (€110 a day, €260 for three, €480 a week, €745 for two weeks) opens the whole store with unlimited swaps, and only pays off if you'll switch board and sail with the wind: wave board in the afternoon, freeride in the morning. A money-saving detail: if you travel with your sail, board only is 30% cheaper, and if there are two of you with similar levels, double use (+25%) is cheaper than two rentals.
When windsurfing isn't a good idea (and what to do instead)
If what draws you is flying over the water, classic windsurfing will feel like not enough: look at wingfoil, which in Granadilla is learnt on flat water. If you come in high summer with the trade winds at full strength and have never sailed, ask for a lesson in the lighter-wind part of the day, because in El Médano it blows hard in the afternoon and a beginner has a rough time. And if you're after 'a bit of beach with some sport', SUP at €15 an hour does the job better than an €89 lesson. Where windsurfing wins: you're travelling with children who already swim well, or you haven't sailed for years and want the feeling back without buying anything.

Cancellation & conditions
Up to 48 h before, you cancel at no cost. If there's no wind on the booked day, the session is moved to another day of your trip; that's why we ask you not to book it for the end of your stay. If there's no room left, we review it with the centre case by case.

Frequently asked questions
Can I sail after a 2 h lesson?
You get up, lift the sail and do your first metres in light wind. Really sailing, out and back to the same spot, usually takes the 6 h. The 2 h (€89) are for finding out whether you want to carry on.
Is windsurfing or kitesurfing better for a beginner?
Windsurfing if you have one or two days and want results on day one: it's cheaper (€89 versus €139) and less demanding. Kite if you have four days and want the feeling of power; in the first two kite sessions you don't even touch the board.
Can a child do it?
The centre doesn't publish a minimum age; what it looks at is that they swim well and have the weight and height for the smallest gear. With children, private usually works better than group. Tell us age and weight and we check.
I haven't sailed in ten years: lesson or rental?
One improver hour with the centre's gear (€95) and then a Starter rental. In an hour you get your balance back and the instructor tells you honestly whether you're ready for Premium. Renting Premium blind is the most expensive way to find out you're not.
What if there's no wind?
For lessons, the day is changed at no cost. For rentals, the day still counts, which is the catch of booking many consecutive days: that's why on longer stays the flexible rate (+20%) usually pays off.
Do I need a car to get to the centre?
If you sleep in El Médano, no: it's on the beach promenade. From Los Cristianos or Costa Adeje it's 20-25 minutes by car, and as the lesson time isn't known until the day before, the daily trip ends up weighing on you.
Do you charge more than going straight to the centre?
No. You pay the price Duotone publishes on its website. What we add is advice on which format suits you, fitting it into the rest of your trip and answering your questions on WhatsApp before and during.
What do I bring to the lesson?
Swimwear, a towel, sunscreen and the willingness to fall in a fair few times. The wetsuit, vest and all the gear come from the centre. Contact lenses rather than glasses.
How is the booking confirmed?
