A farmers' market and a prickly pear farm? Who this morning is worth it for

It's the simplest of the three agritourism tours: a producers' market in Arona and a prickly pear farm with tasting, on a Friday morning. It costs €59 (€49 for children aged 4-11), with bus and pick-up in the south. There are no postcard views or wine tasting, and it's worth knowing that up front. Runs from November 2026.

Who it's for

For people who want to understand what's eaten in the Canaries and where it comes from, without spending all day on a bus. The Arona market belongs to local growers and has the most produce in the morning: tropical fruit, vegetables, cheese, honey. If you like cooking or taking something home, it's the stop you'll enjoy most. It also suits families with children: little walking, things to taste, and the timing leaves the afternoon free for the beach. And for those who've already done the bananas and winery tour and want another side of Canarian farming: the prickly pear, the fruit of the cactus you'll see all over the south without realising it's a crop.

Who it isn't for

If you're after scenery, this isn't your tour: the market and farm are in the farming area of the south, with no spectacular viewpoints. For that, the Teide or Masca are better. If you're mainly drawn to tasting Canarian wine, the bananas and winery tour (Tuesdays, €68) will suit you more, as it includes a tasting of five wines. And if you're not interested in food or buying local produce, the market may feel long. If you're torn between the three agritourism tours, tell us what you like and we'll recommend one.

How it's organised

The bus picks you up at your accommodation in the south around 8:00 and the morning starts at the Arona farmers' market, with time to browse the stalls and shop. Then it's on to a prickly pear farm, where you learn about cultivation, uses and the products made from it, ending with a tasting. You're back before 13:00. To book, message us on WhatsApp with the Friday you want and how many people, and we'll confirm the place and time.
