Why visit Loro Parque?
Loro Parque has ranked for years as the world's best park in TripAdvisor's traveller awards, and it shows in the facilities: over 4,000 animals from around 400 species, with enclosures that set an international benchmark. It is genuinely large, so you walk it slowly and in comfortable shoes. With small children, a pushchair helps more than you would think.
The best known: Europe's largest orca tank, the penguin colony in an Arctic environment, the gorillas, the white tigers, the dolphins and one of the planet's largest parrot collections, which is where the name comes from. The dolphin, sea lion and bird-of-prey shows are included in the ticket and repeat several times a day, so check the times as you go in and build your route around the two or three you want to see, rather than wandering and arriving late to all of them.
The park opens 10:00 to 18:00 and sits in Puerto de la Cruz, on the north coast. That geographical detail ruins more plans than any other: from the south it is a fair drive, so this day goes entirely on the park and should not be paired with anything else. We handle tickets and a direct transfer from the south. One note on the north: the weather is more changeable there than in the south, and while an overcast day barely affects the park, bring long sleeves.

Frequently asked questions
How long do I need?
Between 5 and 6 hours to see it calmly and catch two or three shows. With children, count on 6 or 7: more stops, a slower pace and lunch to fit in. Add the drive from the south and the whole day is gone.
How do I get there from the south?
It is in Puerto de la Cruz, some 45-60 minutes from the south depending on where you start and how the TF-1 is running. We arrange the transfer by bus or taxi from your hotel, which is the easiest. You can also drive or take the public bus, but that stretches the day considerably.
Is there a discount for children?
Under-3s go free and ages 3 to 11 pay a reduced rate. We confirm the exact price when booking, as it varies by season and ticket type.
Can I do Loro Parque and Teide on the same day?
No. Each needs a full day and they are at opposite ends of the island. It is the combination we most often have to talk people out of: on paper it fits, but you end up half-seeing both with four hours of driving on top.
